For Immediate Release:  August 3, 2017  (UPDATE)

On August 3, 2017, the Atlantic City Police Department, Fire Department, and Beach Patrol responded to the beach in the 500 block for a report of a body floating in the ocean. 

Citizens walking on the beach observed the body of Jeffrey Wilkens, a 31 year old male from Illinois, floating in the water.  Arriving first responders were directed to Wilkens’ body in the water which was removed and brought to the shoreline.  Wilkens’ family has been notified.

Wilkens has been missing since entering the ocean on Tuesday around 8:15 pm.  The United States Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police, and Beach Patrol had been searching the ocean for Wilkens.
