D.A.R.E. programs receive generous donation through Greene Giving
Greene County Community Foundation d/b/a Greene Giving through the generosity of an anonymous donor is thrilled to support the Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Xenia D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) programs with a substantial $16,000 donation.
The funds will allow these vital D.A.R.E. programs to reach children within Greene County and support the D.A.R.E. Camp at Camp Birch in Yellow Springs. Each summer, Officers from Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Xenia Police Departments conduct a Camp for D.A.R.E. graduates full of fun activities including horseback riding, archery, swimming and arts and crafts.
With an opioid crisis plaguing many counties in Ohio, the D.A.R.E. curriculum message of resisting peer pressure and finding alternative activities to drug abuse is as crucial today as when the program started in 1983. The D.A.R.E. program has also focused its curriculum message to include education about alcohol and tobacco, resistance strategies, dealing with stress, safe reporting of bullying, and making safe and responsible choices.
Bringing this message to as many Greene County children as possible each year, while working in partnership with their schools and communities, has been the mission of the Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Xenia Police Departments.
The Beavercreek Police Department D.A.R.E. program has been presented annually in Beavercreek schools since 1985. If you would like to know more about Beavercreek Police Department’s D.A.R.E. program or D.A.R.E. Camp please contact Officer Kevin Kovacs.
The Beavercreek Police Department wishes to thank the donors for their generous $6,000 donation to fund the Beavercreek Police Department portion of the 2018 D.A.R.E. Camp.
