Jennifer A. Ruff was arrested, processed, and released for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving following a call about a reckless driver swerving in and out of traffic and almost striking a utility pole.  When officers arrived they noted Ruff seated in the driver’s seat and in the parking lot of Discount Town Liquors.  Sobriety tests were conducted and Ruff was ultimately arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.  She later submitted breath samples yielding almost twice the legal limit.  Court is scheduled at a later date.

Incident Type: DWI Hit and Run Collision

Incident Location: Landis Avenue / SE Boulevard

 Arrested: Michael A. Simmons (55/M) of 206 D Street, Millville NJ

Investigating Officer: D. Fisher #9583

Michael A. Simmons was arrested, processed, and released for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of a collision, failure to report a collision, and refusing to provide breath samples for chemical testing following a two vehicle crash on Landis Avenue near Southeast Boulevard.  It was reported Simmons rear ended the vehicle in front of him as it was stopped at the traffic signal and then began to walk away from the scene.  Simmons apparently saw his vehicle moving backwards and returned back to the scene and placed his vehicle in park.  He told the other driver and passenger that he was not staying around because he ‘did not want to go back to jail and that his car could stay there.’  Simmons then fled the area and was later apprehended by officers after a description was given of him.  Simmons was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.  A minor injury was reported on scene by the passenger of the struck vehicle.  Simmons at the station refused to provide breath samples and was charged additionally.  Court is scheduled at a later date.
