The Yonkers Police Department recently investigated an incident where a subject was impersonating an Uber driver and picked up a street hail. For your safety, please use the approved app or telephone number for the company that you are calling.

Residents and community members are reminded that it is illegal for Uber drivers, Lyft drivers, livery cabs, and all ride-sharing companies to pick up street hails – only official taxis, approved and licensed by the Yonkers Police Department, may pick up street hails at designated taxicab stands or when permitted. The Yonkers Police Department conducts thorough background checks and safety inspections of all officially licensed City of Yonkers taxi operators and vehicles, and therefore encourages their use.
