Man Arrested After Committing Two Robberies

For Immediate Release:  October 28, 2019

 

On October 25, 2019, an investigation into two business robberies resulted in detectives identifying and locating the suspect.

At 9:57 am, patrol officers responded to Pete’s Convenience Store located in the 2300 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a robbery.  The suspect entered the store with a large stick and demanded money from the store clerk.  The suspect opened the cash register, stole money from the drawer, and fled the store. 

At 7:49 pm, patrol officers responded to the Game Stop located in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue.  The same suspect approached the store clerk and gave him a note demanding money and indicated that he was armed with a handgun.  After receiving the money, the suspect fled the store.

An investigation by detectives of the Street Crimes Unit identified the suspect as George Dean.  Dean was criminally charged in both robberies.  He was located on October 26 at Missouri and Atlantic Avenues by Detectives Roberto Matos and Joshua Schwenger and taken into custody.

 

ARRESTED:  George Dean, a 31-year-old man from Port Republic, NJ.

CHARGES:  Two counts each of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and theft.

Dean was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
