For Immediate Release:
November 13, 2019
On November 12, 2019, a man was arrested and a loaded handgun
recovered after quick thinking from store employees who were investigating him
for shoplifting.
At 1:56 pm, Officers Nick Grasso and Tom Gilardi responded to
the Tommy Hilfiger store located in the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue for a
report of a shoplifter and the discovery of a handgun. Upon arrival, store employees had Sultan
Jackson detained. Jackson had earlier
entered the store and took items into the dressing room. He failed to return those items once he left
the dressing room and then left the store.
He returned a short time later where store employees began to question
him about the items. Jackson began to
leave again, but stopped and placed an object under a stack of clothing. Employees believed that it was shoplifted
items, but instead located a loaded handgun. Jackson was detained by the employees and
arrested by Officers Grasso and Gilardi.
He was also found in possession of 13 grams of marijuana.
ARRESTED: Sultan Jackson,
a 44-year-old man from Philadelphia, PA.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession
of a weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled
dangerous substance, and shoplifting.
