For Immediate Release:  November 20, 2019

On November 20, 2019, a juvenile male was arrested with a handgun and heroin after stealing a man’s bicycle at gunpoint.

At 1:30 am, patrol officers responded to the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue for a report of an armed robbery.  The victim, a 37-year-old man from Atlantic City who was not injured, was approached by a male and robbed of his bicycle at gunpoint.  The suspect fled towards Atlantic Avenue.  Officers learned that there was a short delay after the robbery before 911 was called.

Upon hearing the description of the suspect, personnel working in the department’s Surveillance Center recalled seeing someone fitting that description on a bicycle near the time of the robbery on Atlantic Avenue.  They reviewed camera coverage in the area and located the suspect entering a store in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue.  Officers Jesse Oliver-Logan and Jonathan Revolus located the suspect, a 16-year-old male, as he exited the store and got on the stolen bicycle.  The male was taken into custody and found in possession of a loaded handgun and 18 bags of heroin. 

ARRESTED:  A 16-year-old juvenile male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and a curfew violation.

The male was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
