DWI Enforcement Leads to Arrest of Man Wanted for Carjacking

For Immediate Release:  December 15, 2019

On December 13, 2019, a man wanted for an armed carjacking was arrested.

At 7:10 pm, officers Franco Sydnor and Eric Knuttel were taking part in the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign targeting individuals who were driving while intoxicated. 

While at a traffic light, they observed a vehicle driven by Deon Nance fail to stop at the red traffic signal.  The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at Montpelier and Arctic Avenues. 

Nance was unable to provide a driver's license, registration or insurance card for the vehicle.  He was found to have a suspended license and was arrested for an active warrant.  The warrant was for Nance's involvement in an armed carjacking that took place in Newark, NJ on November 22 where one man was shot. 

ARRESTED: Deon Nance, 23-year-old man from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Wanted warrant and motor vehicle summons.

Nance was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
