Man and Woman Arrested, Handgun Recovered
On December 27, 2019, a motor vehicle stop led to the arrest of a man and a woman and the recovery of a loaded handgun.
At 11:21 am, Detectives Alberto Valles and Eric Evans conducted a motor vehicle stop at Virginia and Atlantic Avenues after observing traffic and equipment violations. As Detective Evans was speaking to the driver, Ameer
Hamilton, he could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Hamilton and his passenger, Jacqueline Jones, were arrested after the detective found marijuana inside the vehicle. While searching Jones, she was found in possession of a loaded handgun.
ARRESTED: Ameer Hamilton, a 23-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and motor vehicle summons.
ARRESTED: Jacquelin Jones, a 20-year-old woman from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
