South Carolina Man Arrested with Assault Rifle and Handgun
For Immediate Release:
January 30, 2020
On January 28, 2020, information led to the arrest of a South
Carolina man who was attempting to sell an assault rifle.
Detective Brian Hambrecht of the Special Investigations
Section received information that a man was in possession of an assault rifle and
attempting to sell it. Through his
investigation, Detective Hambrecht identified the man as Larry Sypolt and that
he was at Ocean Casino Resort.
Sergeant James Herbert located Sypolt in his vehicle in the
self-park garage. Sypolt was arrested
after detectives located a handgun and the rifle.
The rifle contained a large capacity magazine, pistol grip and flash
suppressor.
ARRESTED: Larry Sypolt,
a 42-year-old man from Columbia, SC.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of an assault rifle, and possession
of a large capacity magazine.
Sypolt was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
