Man and Woman Arrested for Active Warrants and Drugs

On January 31, 2020, a man and woman were arrested after both
had active warrants and the man ran throwing bags of cocaine.
At 5:39 pm, Officers Kushal Laroiya, Reginald Williams, and
Alexander DeFeo of the Tourism District Unit were on foot patrol in the area of
the 1500 block of Belfield Avenue. They
observed a vehicle parked directly under a “No Stopping or Standing” sign. As the officers approached, the driver Kiki
Priester exited the vehicle. She began
to speak with Officer Laroiya who could smell the odor of burnt marijuana
coming from her.
The passenger, Richard Norwood, exited the vehicle on his
own. The officers attempted to speak
with Norwood, but he immediately began to run.
Officers Laroiya and Williams began to chase after Norwood. While running, Norwood was throwing objects
to the ground. These objects were later
recovered and were 39 bags of cocaine.
Norwood was arrested after he tripped when his pants fell down. He was also found in possession of a small
amount of marijuana and an active warrant.
Priester was arrested for several active warrants. Officers also located a small amount of
marijuana and marijuana cigarettes in her vehicle.
ARRESTED: Richard
Norwood, a 34-year-old man from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Two counts of
possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to
distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of a
public zone, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and contempt of court.
ARRESTED: Kiki
Priester, a 34-year-old woman from Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of
CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, contempt of court, and a motor vehicle
summons.
Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
