Embezzlement Investigation/Arrest

The Homewood Police Department with the assistance of the Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force conducted a six month investigation concerning a former longtime employee of BTS Technologies, a Homewood based business.  It was determined that the employee had embezzled in excess of $166,000 in a twenty seven month time period.  On March 4, 2020, a joint operation was conducted with the Metro Area Crime Center and the suspect, Lisa Case age 48 of Fultondale,  was taken into custody without incident.  A warrant was issued for Theft of Property 1st   Degree for the suspect by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.  The suspect was later transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.


The Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force is comprised of Investigators from the United States Secret Service, Homewood PD, Vestavia PD, Mountain Brook PD, Hueytown PD, Gardendale PD, Walmart Investigations, and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
