Telephone Police Reporting
In an effort to limit exposure of the COVID-19 virus, the Bloomfield Police Department has commenced with “Telephone Reporting” for certain incidents. To reach the Bloomfield Police Telephone Reporting Unit, dial 973-680-4141 for the 24 Hour Non-Emergency line. Once your call has been screened by a call taker and it is determined that a Police Report is warranted by telephone, you will be connected to the Police Telephone Reporting Unit. The following is a sample of reports that will be taken over the phone:
Property Damage/ Criminal Mischief, Civil Matters and disputes, Landlord/Tenant disputes with no physical confrontation, Theft from auto, Theft of Motor Vehicle, General Theft
The Police Telephone Reporting system DOES NOT replace the 911/Emergency calling system. If you have an emergency, immediately call 911 so that Police, Fire, or an ambulance may be dispatched to you. If you are not sure whether the situation is a true emergency, call 911 or our 24 Hour Non Emergency line (973-680-4141) and let the call taker determine whether you need emergency help.
