Two Men Arrested on Boardwalk

For Immediate Release:  July 17, 2020

On July 16, 2020, two men from Philadelphia were arrested after fighting and fleeing from officers over smoking marijuana on the Boardwalk.

At 12:34 pm, Officers Diamond Fuentes and Sangenys Estrella-Garcia were walking their foot post on the Boardwalk when they observed Christian Jones and Eli Reynolds seated on a bench smoking marijuana near North Carolina Avenue.  They began to speak with the two men who became irate.  Reynolds stood up and attempted to walk away.  After being told he was under arrest, Reynolds pulled away from Officer Fuentes and began to resist arrest.  After a brief struggle, he was placed in custody.

As the officers were arresting Reynolds, Jones fled.  He was quickly apprehended by Officers Mailon Demby and Rick Lasco as he entered a nearby parking garage.  Jones, who initially provided officers with a false name, was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Bucks County, PA.  Both men were found in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

ARRESTED:  Christian Jones, 26, of Philadelphia, PA.

CHARGES:  Fugitive of justice, possession of CDS, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension.

Jones was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED:  Eli Reynolds, 28, of Philadelphia, PA.

CHARGES:  Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Reynolds was released on a summons with a future court date.
