Tip From Councilman Leads to Handgun Arrest

On July 24, 2020, a tip from a City of Atlantic City councilman
led to the arrest of a man armed with a handgun that was involved in a dispute.
At 12:54 am, Officer Bryant Mitchell was stopped by City
Councilman Moisse Delgado who provided information about a man with a handgun
in the area of South Carolina and Drexel Avenues. Officer Mitchell was also provided with a
detailed description of the armed man.
Within minutes, Officer Mitchell along with other officers located
the described man, Antonio Gibson.
Gibson was actively engaged in a verbal dispute with another man. While approaching Gibson, Officer Mitchell
observed the handle of a handgun sticking out of Gibson’s pocket. Gibson was arrested without incident and the
handgun was recovered. Gibson was also
found in possession of 11 bags of heroin and marijuana.
ARRESTED: Antonio
Gibson, 45, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession
of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and two counts of
possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Gibson was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
