Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Crash with Vehicle

For Immediate Release:  August 9, 2020

On August 9, 2020 at 3:15 am, patrol officers responded to Michigan and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived to find Thomas Kovsh, 29, of Atlantic City suffering from serious injuries.  He was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation conducted by Officer Joseph Bereheiko revealed Kovsh was walking in the eastbound lane of traffic on Atlantic Avenue pushing a bicycle.  A vehicle traveling eastbound swerved to avoid Kovsh.  Behind that vehicle, a Toyota being driven by Murray Kanter, 24, of Ventnor, NJ, struck Kovsh in the roadway.  Kanter immediately stopped.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
