For Immediate Release:  August 10, 2020

On August 9, 2020, two motor vehicle stops resulted in the recovery of two handguns and the arrest of four men.

At 2:11 am, Officer Ivaylo Ivanov conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of north Tennessee Avenue.  Kenshabba Brookens was arrested after Officer Ivanov located a loaded handgun and marijuana inside the vehicle.

At 12:56 pm, Officers Corey Treadway and Matthew Talavera conducted a motor vehicle stop in the first north block of Michigan Avenue.  The driver, Jonathan Garcia, was arrested along with his passengers Justin Brooks and Justin McDonald after a handgun and more than 50 grams of marijuana was located in the vehicle.  The gun had no serial number or an identifying mark by a federal firearms manufacturer. 

ARRESTED:  Kenshabba Brookens, 26, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).

Brookens was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED:  Jonathan Garcia, 20, of Baltimore, MD.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS, unlawful possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. 

Garcia was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED:  Justin Brooks, 20, of Baltimore, MD.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS and possession with intent to distribute CDS.

ARRESTED:  Justin McDonald, 20, of Middle River, MD.

CHARGES:  Possession of CDS and possession with intent to distribute CDS.

Brooks and McDonald were released on a summons with a future court date.
