Man Arrested After Walking into Medical Center with Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound and Drugs

On August 12, 2020 at 5:34 am, patrol officers responded to
the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division after Christopher
Diantonio walked into the emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound. Hospital staff turned over 45 bags of heroin
and a small amount of marijuana to officers after locating the drugs on
Diantonio while he was being treated.
An investigation conducted by detectives of the Violent
Crimes Unit determined that Diantonio shot himself while inside a motel room at
the Quality Inn located in the 3100 block of Pacific Avenue. Diantonio was taken into custody at the medical
center.
ARRESTED: Christopher
Diantonio, 18, of Wildwood Crest, NJ.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous
substance.
Upon being discharged, Diantonio will be remanded to the Atlantic
County Justice Facility.
The investigation is being led by the Violent Crimes
