Citizen Complaints Leads to Gun and Drug Arrests

For Immediate Release:  September 10, 2020

 

On September 8, 2020, detectives conducting surveillance arrested two people and recovered a handgun and drugs.

At 12:16 pm, Detectives Alberto Valles and Darrin Lorady were conducting surveillance in the 1100 block of Baltic Avenue in response to complaints regarding drug distribution to the Special Investigations Section.

During the surveillance, they observed Samir Ross exit a residence in the block and begin to engage in a narcotic transaction with the driver of a vehicle that pulled up.  Ross entered the passenger side of the car and the driver, Michele Stark, drove away.  The detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop shortly after.

The detectives approached the vehicle and observed narcotic distribution paraphernalia inside.  After Stark and Ross exited the vehicle, Detective Lorady saw a laser attachment that is applied to firearms to assist in aiming.  A loaded handgun was then found in the vehicle along with a burnt marijuana cigarette.

After his arrest, Ross was found in possession of 36 bags of heroin.   

 

ARRESTED:  Samir Ross, 18, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and single counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of a public zone, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

 

ARRESTED:  Michele Stark, 50, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of CDS, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Ross and Stark were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
