On 11/02/2020 at approximately 0300 hours, Anoka County Sheriff's Deputies pursued a vehicle into the City of Brooklyn Park. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a carjacking out of Minneapolis. The vehicle stopped in the area of Pearson Pkwy/83rd Ave and the driver fled on foot. Brooklyn Park Officers were not involved in the chase however assisted Anoka with a perimeter. Anoka County Deputies deployed their K9 in search of the suspect. The State Patrol helicopter also assisted. During the course of the search Brooklyn Park Officers on perimeter noticed a suspicious vehicle driving the area. Officers attempted contact with the vehicle however it fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was discovered to be stolen. Brooklyn Park Officers did not pursue the vehicle however the MSP helicopter was able to track the vehicle via the air. The vehicle crashed in Brookdale Park and the driver fled on foot. Hennepin County Sheriff's Deputies along with Brooklyn Center Officers located this suspect and placed him under arrest. The Anoka K9 continued searching for the initial suspect and located him hiding in a trash can near Pearson Pkwy/83rd Ave N. This second suspect was taken into custody and turned over to Anoka County.
