Suspect Arrested in Shooting that Wounded One

For Immediate Release:  April 8, 2021

 

On April 7, 2021, an investigation by Violent Crimes Unit detectives led to the arrest of man responsible for shooting another man.

At 4:04 am, patrol officers responded to the first block of south Bellevue Avenue for a report of a man shot.  They located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg that was bleeding heavily.  Officers Brandon Bower and Matthew Talavera began to provide medical aid to the victim, 21, of Atlantic City.  Officer Talavera applied a tourniquet to slow the bleeding down.  The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

Detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit began to investigate the incident.  They were alerted that a man, Ricky Hill 2nd, arrived at the Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ with a gunshot wound.  During the investigation, detectives determined that Hill was responsible for shooting the victim.  He was arrested at the medical center.

 

ARRESTED:  Ricky Hill 2nd, 36, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon.

Hill was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
