For Immediate Release:  September 24, 2021

The Atlantic City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted for shooting a woman.

On September 24, 2021 at 3:23 AM, patrol officers responded to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for a report of a woman that walked into the emergency department suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim, 34, of Atlantic City, sustained a non-life threatening injury.  The incident occurred on the first block of south Florida Avenue.

An investigation conducted by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit led to the identification of James Burton as the individual responsible for shooting the victim.  As a result, Burton, also known as Ronnie Jones, is wanted on numerous charges related to the incident.

WANTED:  James Burton, 42, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES:  Aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.  Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
