Car Stop Leads to Recovery of Drugs and Two Arrests

On January 23,
2022, a motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of two men and the recovery
of a large quantity of narcotics.
At 12:41 AM,
Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan, his K9 partner Gee, and Officer Erica Britko,
conducted a motor vehicle stop at Arkansas and Atlantic Avenues on a vehicle with
expired registration and tinted windows. A subsequent investigation was conducted
with the assistance of Officer Oliver-Logan’s K9 partner Gee, a canine trained in
the detection of narcotics. The investigation led to a search of the vehicle
and the discovery of a large quantity of narcotics. Officers arrested the
driver, Manny Napoles, who was found to be in possession of 134 grams of heroin,
85 grams of suspected fentanyl, 4 grams of cocaine, and various pills. Napoles was
also in possession of $3,286 believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales. The
passenger, Steven Nguyen, was arrested for possession of 2 grams of heroin and possession
of hypodermic needles. Nguyen was also found to have several active warrants
for his arrest.
ARRESTED: Manny Napoles, 36, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Possession of CDS (four counts) and
possession with intent to distribute CDS (three counts), as well as several
traffic summonses/citations
ARRESTED:
Steven Nguyen, 32, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES:
Possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Napoles and
Nguyen were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Charges are mere
accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
