ShotSpotter Alert Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Handgun
For Immediate Release: March 11, 2022
On March 8, 2022, a ShotSpotter alert led to the arrest of a
man and the recovery of a stolen handgun and hollow point bullets.
At 11:10 PM, patrol officers responded to the 100 block of north
Delaware Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter alert. Officer Joseph Kelly
arrived and observed Gregory Baker urinating from the front porch of a
residence in the immediate proximity of the ShotSpotter notification. Officer
Kelly made contact with Baker and as they spoke, Officer Kelly noticed a spent
shell casing and a live round on the porch where Baker was standing. A check of
Baker revealed he was in possession of a loaded handgun with hollow point
bullets. The loaded handgun was determined to be stolen out of the state of
North Carolina.
ARRESTED: Gregory
Baker, 36, of Atlantic City, NJ.
CHARGES: Unlawful
possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose,
receiving stolen property, and possession of hollow-point ammunition.
Baker was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice
Facility. Charges are mere accusations,
and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
