VEHICLE PURSUIT STATEMENT

 

 

Cincinnati, Ohio – At approximately 4:22 p.m. Cincinnati Police Department Organized Crime Investigations Squad and members of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Task Force initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle with three occupants that were subjects of an active Felony investigation.  The suspect vehicle refused to stop for marked police vehicles when they attempted to stop the vehicle in the Lower Price Hill neighborhood.  The suspects continued to attempt to elude officers, crossing over the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, eventually entering Newport, Kentucky. 

 

The suspect vehicle lost control in the area of Fifth and Monmouth Streets in Newport.  The suspect vehicle struck four citizens that were in the vicinity of the crash.  Two of the citizens that were struck are deceased and the other two citizens sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  Three suspects were taken into custody at the scene. The suspects also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The Newport Kentucky Police Department will be the lead law enforcement agency conducting the auto accident investigation. The Cincinnati Police Department, Newport Police Department, and the ATF will conduct the criminal investigation related to the suspects actions. The Cincinnati Police Department and the Citizens Complaint Authority will be conducting parallel administrative investigations.  This investigation remains ongoing and updates will be provided when more details become available.
